SHARI’S PICTORIAL REVIEW

Vietnam, Cambodia & The Riches of the Mekong | AmaWaterways | August 2016

HIGHLIGHTS

Every minute was fascinating but these were special.

Vietnam – on my way to explore a local village. Visited a silk factory and a mat factory.

In Cambodia – Giving of alms and receiving of a blessing from the Buddhist monks. And an ox cart ride!

I rose at 4 AM to see Angkor Wat at sunrise – spectacular! Mode of transport there – a tuk tuk.

More photos – and a group photo ( that’s me in the middle!). See me shopping, on a Vespa Street Food Tour, and a photo of a floating market.

And what better way to end this pictorial but with a photo of the Mekong at sunset.

FOOD HIGHLIGHTS ~ On Shore

Scroll and enjoy!

Interesting foodstuffs were on display at a local market. I decided not to sample the fried grasshopper!

I have included a photo of my breakfast called “the Pho” – tasty!

And see when I got up close and personal with a huge prawn in Phnom Penh later served to me for dinner – with a side of ants! I was brave and ate the ants …

You can be adventurous on this cruise and sample local dishes but if that is not your wish, there are more familiar offerings on board.

DESTINATION EXPERIENCES

I visited a floating village, home to 5000 people! There are 1.2 million people in Cambodia living in floating villages.
